Gbajabiamila Knew About My Appointment, Says Prince Adeniyi Amid Impersonation Trial

Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, the man accused of posing as the Director-General of the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council and Presidential Economic Advisory Council, has denied any wrongdoing, insisting that the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, was aware of his appointment.

Adeyemi, who is facing charges bordering on alleged impersonation, forgery and the use of forged presidential documents, said he remains confident that the court will establish the truth and clear his name.

Speaking during an interview on Thursday, he dismissed suggestions that he was evading justice, stressing that he was fully prepared to face the legal process.
"Not at all," he said when asked whether he was running away from the law.
He maintained that the matter was already before the court and urged Nigerians to allow the judicial process to take its course.

"If I am wrong, let the court of law determine that. If I am right, let the court do the right thing. Since the matter is in court, let a court of competent jurisdiction vindicate me because I am ready to clear my name," he said.
Adeyemi added that his legal team was handling the case and disclosed that he possessed a letter of appointment, although he declined to provide further details because the matter was sub judice.
"My lawyers are involved, and everyone will monitor the proceedings. I have a letter of appointment. However, since the matter is before the court, I won't be able to say much about it. I am on medication. I am a bit down and sick," he stated.

When asked whether he considered himself a criminal, Adeyemi firmly rejected the suggestion.
"No, I am not a criminal. However, the court will do justice to that," he said.
Responding to questions about the role of the Presidency, Adeyemi claimed that Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila was aware of his appointment.

Asked whether he received confirmation of the appointment through the Chief of Staff's office, he replied in the affirmative, adding that the court would ultimately determine the facts surrounding the matter.

Addressing Nigerians, Adeyemi challenged claims that the agency he represented was fictitious, arguing that he could not have openly engaged with senior government officials across the country for years without official authorization.

"Assuming for one second that the agency does not exist, would I have the audacity to travel across the country meeting heads of ministries, departments and agencies if I knew it was not legitimate? No Nigerian would dare do that. I could not have done this for almost three years. Nigeria is not a banana republic," he said.

The Presidency, however, has consistently dismissed Adeyemi's claims, describing him as an impostor and insisting that neither the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council nor the Presidential Economic Advisory Council exists within the Federal Government.

It further stated that Adeyemi was never appointed by President Bola Tinubu and is currently facing criminal charges over alleged forgery, impersonation and the use of forged presidential documents.
The case remains before the court, where both Adeyemi's claims and the allegations against him are expected to be determined through the judicial process.
