Accord Party Will Rule Nigeria In 2027 - Gbenga Hashim

The Gbenga Hashim Solidarity Movement (GHSM) has dismissed as "illegal, politically contrived and inconsequential" a reported gathering at the Osun State Government House in Osogbo, where Governor Ademola Adeleke and some Accord Party officials were said to have endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election.

In a statement issued on Monday by its National Coordinator, the movement argued that the meeting had no constitutional authority and could not override decisions taken by the Accord Party through its established structures.

According to GHSM, the reported endorsement does not affect the party's presidential ticket, insisting that no informal gathering can determine the political direction of the Accord Party.

"No meeting held outside the constitutional structures of the Accord Party can determine its presidential direction. The mandate given to Dr. Gbenga Hashim by Accord Party members on May 30, 2026, cannot be traded or altered through political meetings," the statement said.

The group maintained that Dr. Gbenga Hashim remains the Accord Party's presidential candidate, having emerged through what it described as a nationwide direct primary conducted on May 30, 2026, in compliance with the Electoral Act and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) guidelines.
It stressed that the mandate could not be overturned through political negotiations, public statements or unofficial agreements.

GHSM further described the reported endorsement of President Tinubu as "null, unconstitutional and without political consequence," alleging that attempts were being made to undermine the Accord Party's presidential project.

The movement also accused Governor Adeleke of engaging in anti-party activities and claimed that state resources were being used to influence the party's internal affairs for political advantage.
According to the group, the Accord Party belongs to its members and should not be subjected to external political interests.

GHSM expressed confidence in Hashim's chances in the 2027 presidential election, describing him as a credible and unifying candidate capable of offering Nigerians an alternative political platform.
The movement said its supporters across the country's 774 local government areas would intensify grassroots mobilisation to ensure that the party's mandate is upheld.

It also noted that the dispute over the Accord Party's presidential nomination remains before the Federal High Court in Abuja, where proceedings have been concluded and judgment has been reserved.
GHSM argued that public pronouncements on issues currently before the court were inappropriate and could amount to interference with judicial proceedings, adding that Hashim would continue to pursue the matter through all available legal channels if necessary.

The group concluded that the outcome of the 2027 presidential election would ultimately be determined by Nigerian voters, insisting that political endorsements or meetings held outside the party's constitutional framework would not alter the mandate it says was freely given to Dr. Hashim.
