Members of the Accord Alliance Movement (AAM), also known as the Movement for New Nigeria, have called on the Accord Party leadership to immediately submit the name of Dr. Gbenga Joel Olawepo-Hashim to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the party's presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.

The demand was made on Wednesday during the inauguration of the movement in Abuja, where the group formally reaffirmed its support for Olawepo-Hashim and launched a nationwide mobilisation campaign ahead of the 2027 polls.

Speaking at the event, the Director-General of the Accord Alliance Movement, Hon. Light Adah Adoko, described the inauguration as a major milestone in the group's political journey, saying the movement was established to champion the vision of a "New Nigeria."

Adoko alleged that certain individuals within the Accord Party were attempting to frustrate Olawepo-Hashim's emergence as the party's presidential candidate, warning that such actions would undermine internal democracy and the will of party members.

According to him, Olawepo-Hashim remains the party's only presidential aspirant and deserves to be recognised as its flag bearer.

"The Accord Alliance Movement was born out of necessity to defend democratic values and the aspirations of members who believe in a transparent and credible political process," Adoko said.
He also criticised the administration of President Bola Tinubu, expressing dissatisfaction with its handling of insecurity, economic challenges, and the rising cost of living. He argued that Nigeria requires a new leadership direction built on accountability, national unity, and inclusive development.

Describing Olawepo-Hashim as a consistent advocate of democracy, Adoko said his leadership ideals continue to inspire many Nigerians seeking meaningful political and economic reforms.

He urged members of the movement and supporters of the Accord Party to remain united while working to build a strong grassroots political structure ahead of the 2027 general election.

According to him, the newly inaugurated movement will embark on nationwide mobilisation to expand the party's support base and promote its candidates across the country.

The event ended with members renewing their commitment to the Accord Party and calling on its leadership to promptly submit Olawepo-Hashim's name to INEC as the party's presidential candidate, expressing confidence that he represents the vision of a "New Nigeria."
