The Super Eagles of Nigeria produced a dominant display on Monday as they thrashed Mozambique 4–0 in their Africa Cup of Nations Round of 16 clash, booking a convincing place in the quarterfinals of the tournament.
Nigeria took control of the encounter early, pressing aggressively and dictating the tempo of the game. Their dominance paid off in the 20th minute when Ademola Lookman opened the scoring with a composed finish.
Five minutes later, star striker Victor Osimhen doubled Nigeria’s lead, capitalising on a defensive lapse to find the back of the net in the 25th minute. The Super Eagles went into the break firmly in control.
Mozambique’s hopes of a comeback were dashed shortly after the restart as Osimhen struck again in the 47th minute, completing his brace and stretching Nigeria’s advantage to three goals.
Nigeria maintained their attacking intensity and defensive discipline throughout the match. Substitute A. Adams added the fourth goal in the 75th minute to cap a superb team performance.
