The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced its 2026 nationwide recruitment exercise, inviting suitably qualified Nigerians to apply for various entry-level positions across the Commission. According to the Commission, the recruitment is aimed at strengthening its institutional capacity in electoral administration, voter registration, election logistics, data management, and other critical electoral operations in line with its constitutional mandate.
The available vacancies cover three major categories:
- Professional Cadre (Lawyers, Engineers, ICT Officers, Clinical Officers, Accountants and other professionals) on Grade Levels 09, 10 and 12.
- Administrative Officer II (Registration Area Officer) – Grade Level 08.
- Executive Officer (Assistant Registration Area Officer) – Grade Level 07.
Applicants for the Professional Cadre are expected to possess relevant Bachelor's and, where applicable, Master's degrees alongside recognized professional certifications. Administrative Officer applicants must possess a Bachelor's Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND), while Executive Officer applicants are required to have a National Certificate in Education (NCE) or its equivalent. Candidates must also meet other conditions, including computer literacy, good character, physical and mental fitness, and must not be above 35 years of age at the time of application.
INEC emphasized that all applications must be submitted online through its official recruitment portal. The Commission warned that multiple applications, false information, or forged documents will lead to automatic disqualification and possible prosecution. It also reiterated that the recruitment exercise is completely free of charge, urging applicants not to pay anyone for employment opportunities.
The application window opened on Monday, July 20, 2026, and will close on Monday, July 27, 2026. Interested applicants are encouraged to complete their applications before the deadline.
