Senator Ned Nwoko has broken his silence following a viral video showing his wife, Nollywood star Regina Daniels, in visible distress, attributing the tension in their marriage to what he described as her “battle with drugs and alcohol abuse.”
The viral clip, which sent shockwaves across social media, captured a tearful Regina Daniels lamenting, “In Ned Nwoko’s house, I am nothing, but in my own house, I am a queen. Not again, I can’t stand the violence, it’s too much.”
The video quickly stirred public concern, prompting reactions from fans and family members. Regina’s brother, in a post on Instagram, vowed to defend his sister against alleged domestic violence.
However, in a statement released on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Senator Nwoko denied allegations of abuse, insisting that the real issue was Regina’s struggle with substance dependence.
“Regina was not always like this. Her current battle with drugs and alcohol abuse is the root of our problem. She must continue her rehabilitation program, or I fear for her life and safety,” the senator stated.
Nwoko explained that his efforts to have her undergo treatment had been met with resistance, adding that he had given her a clear condition to accept rehabilitation either in Asokoro or abroad.
“The truth is, I have set a clear condition for her to accept rehab in Asokoro or outside Nigeria, especially Jordan, where she will not have access to drugs,” he said.
The Delta North senator further alleged that Regina had recently displayed violent behaviour, claiming she attacked domestic staff and damaged property in their home.
“She is the violent one here, slapping and hitting staff in the past 48 hours and destroying cars and windows for no just cause,” he added.
He also accused two individuals of enabling her alleged addiction, naming them as her “main drug suppliers.”
“A scene of chaos unfolded at home, orchestrated by Sammy, Regina’s main drug supplier. Another known supplier of drugs to Regina is the tiny evil devil called Ann,” he alleged.
Maintaining his innocence, Nwoko emphasized that none of his other wives had ever accused him of domestic violence.
“I have other wives, and none will ever accuse me of violence,” he maintained.
The lawmaker concluded by appealing to the actress to seek professional help, saying only a full rehabilitation program could restore her health and peace of mind.
