Outcry Over Poor Construction on ₦2.6bn Emu-Obodoeti–Abraka Road Project

Fresh concerns have emerged over the controversial ₦2.6 billion Emu-Obodoeti – Emu Uno – Abbi – Abraka road project as an eyewitness has raised alarm about the quality of work done on the road.

A community advocate, Comrade Stanley Nkem Adoh, made the revelation after personally visiting the road to assess the level of work carried out by the contractor. 

According to him, a video recording taken during the inspection revealed multiple patches along the road and what he described as a very poor asphalt overlay.
Adoh expressed worry that the asphalt laid on the road appears too weak and poorly done, warning that any heavy rainfall could easily wash it away, thereby wasting public funds meant for the development of the area.

He noted that although the project was expected to bring relief to motorists and residents, the current condition of the road raises serious questions about the quality of construction and supervision.

The concerned citizen therefore called on Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State, to urgently direct the contractor handling the project to return to the site and commence proper reconstruction of the road.
According to him, the project should not merely be patched but reconstructed to meet proper engineering standards so that it can serve the communities effectively.

He further stressed that Ndokwa Nation must not be treated as a dumping ground for poorly executed projects, insisting that the people deserve infrastructure that meets acceptable quality and durability standards.

The road links several important communities including Emu-Obodoeti, Emu-Uno, Abbi and Abraka, serving farmers, traders, students and other commuters who rely on the route for daily economic and social activities.

Residents say completing the road with proper asphalt finishing and quality construction would significantly improve transportation and economic activities across the Ndokwa axis.

Stakeholders are now urging the Delta State Government to investigate the condition of the road project and ensure that contractors deliver work that reflects the value of the public funds spent.
