CP Aina Adesola Assumes Duty as Delta State Commissioner of Police

Commissioner of Police Aina Adesola has officially assumed duty as the 23rd Commissioner of Police in charge of the Delta State Command of the Nigeria Police Force.
The formal handover took place on Monday in Asaba, following the promotion and redeployment of the immediate past Commissioner of Police, AIG Olufemi Abaniwonda, to the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
Speaking shortly after assuming office, CP Adesola pledged to consolidate on existing security frameworks in the state while strengthening proactive and intelligence-led policing strategies aimed at sustaining peace and public safety across Delta State.
He called on residents to continue supporting the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies, stressing that effective policing requires active collaboration between law enforcement and the public. The new police boss also urged youths in the state to shun criminal activities and embrace lawful and productive ventures.
CP Aina Adesola, a seasoned police officer with extensive experience in operational, administrative, investigative, and training roles, was born on September 2, 1968. He hails from Abeokuta South Local Government Area of Ogun State.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology and was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force on June 10, 1994, after completing his training at the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil. Over the years, he has served in several strategic postings across different commands and departments of the Force.
In his valedictory remarks, the outgoing Commissioner of Police, AIG Olufemi Abaniwonda, expressed gratitude to the Delta State Government and the people of the state for their cooperation and support throughout his tenure. He appealed to residents to extend the same goodwill and support to his successor to ensure continuity in the fight against crime and criminality.
The change of guard marks a new chapter for the Delta State Police Command, as stakeholders anticipate renewed commitment to security, professionalism, and community engagement under CP Adesola’s leadership.
