Umusadege-Ogbe 15MW Power Plant: What You Need to Know

In a groundbreaking move towards sustainable development, the Umusadege-Ogbe community in Ndokwa West Local Government Area has signed a landmark agreement with Valiant Energy Company for the construction of a 15 Megawatt (MW) Independent Power Plant, designed to provide constant and reliable electricity to the community.

Under the terms of the deal, Valiant Energy is expected to complete and deliver the project before April 2026, ushering in a new era of uninterrupted power supply for residents of Umusadege-Ogbe. The power plant, when completed, will serve exclusively the community and its environs, ending decades of erratic and unreliable electricity.

While the power supply will not be free, it is a community-owned investment designed to generate revenue back to the people. The initiative is being funded through Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) revenues accrued to the Umusadege-Ogbe community — a bold and visionary use of local development funds for long-term sustainability.
