The National Chairman of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP), Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has described President Bola Tinubu as the worst leader Nigeria has ever had, while warning that the North would suffer further hardship if he wins the 2027 presidential election.
Baba-Ahmed made the remarks during an interview with Symfoni TV, where he criticised the Tinubu administration over what he described as poor governance and a growing disconnect between the government and Nigerians.
According to the PRP chairman, the North would be “finished” if Tinubu secures another term in office, alleging that the administration has failed to adequately address the economic and security challenges confronting citizens.
“The North will be finished if Tinubu wins in 2027. He’s the worst President ever in the history of Nigeria. The problem is the disconnect between the government and the people,” Baba-Ahmed said.
He also criticised Tinubu’s response to concerns reportedly raised by Catholic bishops during their meeting with the President at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Baba-Ahmed said the bishops had approached the President respectfully and raised concerns about hunger, insecurity and other challenges affecting Nigerians.
However, he accused Tinubu of dismissing the concerns instead of acknowledging the difficulties being experienced by citizens.
The PRP chairman argued that the President’s reported disagreement with the bishops over the state of the country demonstrated what he described as a failure to understand the realities facing Nigerians.
“Catholic bishops went to the President. These are highly respected people. They must have thought that it would be a good outing for him. Otherwise, he wouldn’t even have agreed to meet them,” he said.
According to him, the bishops told the President that Nigerians were unhappy with the government and struggling with hunger, insecurity and other socioeconomic difficulties.
Baba-Ahmed said Tinubu’s alleged rejection of those concerns, despite what he described as evidence of hardship across the country, was an indication of ineffective leadership.
He further accused the administration of becoming increasingly disconnected from the people, insisting that government policies should reflect the realities Nigerians face daily.
The PRP chairman’s comments come amid growing political debate ahead of the 2027 general elections, with opposition figures and political groups intensifying their criticism of the Tinubu administration and its record in office.
