Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has lauded the South-South region for its immense contributions to Nigeria’s unity and development, describing it as a critical pillar of the nation’s economic and social growth.
The Governor made the remarks on Sunday at the 2025 Passover Conference and the dedication of the children of Apostle Charles Osazuwa, Founder of Rock of Ages Christian Assembly International, in Benin City, Edo State.
Oborevwori stressed that the South-South, with its vast oil and gas resources, agricultural wealth, and human capital, remained central to Nigeria’s prosperity. He, however, called for stronger collaboration with the Federal Government to close development gaps and ensure the region reaps full benefits from its natural endowments.
“A united South-South voice will not only fast-track development but also strengthen security and promote inclusive growth across our region,” the Governor said, urging state governments in the region to work together on infrastructure, environmental protection, and economic diversification.
He also highlighted the cultural and historical bonds among Delta, Edo, and Bayelsa States, citing their shared achievements in national sporting events as a symbol of unity and collective strength.
On the occasion, Oborevwori commended Apostle Osazuwa for his ministry’s integrity and impact, adding that thanksgiving and faith remained vital virtues for both leaders and followers.
Other dignitaries at the event included former Delta Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa; Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor; Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu; and Prof. Idia Ize-Iyamu.
Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, represented by his deputy, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, assured continued support for the Christian faith through people-focused governance. Similarly, Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, represented by his Deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, congratulated Apostle Osazuwa on the dedication of his triplets, describing him as a genuine man of God.
In his sermon, Apostle Osazuwa urged South-South leaders to lobby for the rehabilitation of the Benin–Sapele Road, lamenting the hardship faced by motorists, while also preaching on the theme “Understanding the Power of Effective Prayer.”
The thanksgiving service drew worshippers, well-wishers, and dignitaries from across the region.
