The Light Up Ndokwa campaign has taken its message of awareness and accountability to Ezhionum community, Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State, where residents were confronted with the stark reality of infrastructural neglect.

During the live tour, campaigners highlighted the absence of basic amenities in the region, pointing to the lack of motorable roads, functional hospitals, and electricity. The situation, they argued, reflects years of abandonment and poor representation by successive Ndokwa leaders.

Speaking at the event, organizers described the condition as not just neglect but “wickedness” on the part of political leaders who have failed to translate the wealth of the region into visible development. They stressed that Ndokwa, despite being host to vital oil and gas resources, remains among the least developed areas in Delta State.

Residents were urged to rise beyond silence and complacency by holding their leaders accountable. The campaign called on the people to demand better roads, healthcare facilities, and reliable electricity supply, noting that these are the minimum dividends of democracy expected in any oil-bearing community.

The Light Up Ndokwa movement continues its tour across Ndokwa land, with the aim of mobilizing grassroots voices for change and ensuring that the cries of the people are no longer ignored.
