In a bid to reduce crashes involving heavy-duty vehicles, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has successfully trained 2,493 Dangote Cement drivers across the company’s Ibese and Obajana plants between August 3 and 17, 2025.
During the exercise, no fewer than 2,731 Dangote trucks were subjected to comprehensive roadworthiness inspections, underscoring the Corps’ renewed commitment to safer fleet operations and accident prevention on Nigerian highways.
According to FRSC officials, the training forms part of the Corps’ annual certification programme, designed to instill safety consciousness, discipline, and professional driving ethics in operators of heavy-duty vehicles.
The initiative will continue with another round of training scheduled for September 1–5, 2025, at Dangote’s Okpella and Gboko plants.
“This programme is not just about certifying drivers; it is about saving lives,” an FRSC spokesperson said. “We believe that by equipping Dangote drivers with the right knowledge and ensuring the roadworthiness of their trucks, we can make significant progress in reducing crashes nationwide.”
Dangote Cement remains one of the largest fleet operators in the country, and its collaboration with the FRSC is seen as a crucial step in enhancing safety standards in the transport sector.
The FRSC urged other corporate fleet owners to adopt similar measures, emphasizing that collective action is necessary to achieve safer roads across Nigeria.
