FCTA Begins Promotion Exercise for Over 13,000 Civil Servants

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has commenced its 2025 promotion exercise for more than 13,000 civil servants across the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) and the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA).

Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Engr. Emeka Ezeh, announced that the exercise, approved by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, began on Wednesday and will run for 10 days.
According to Ezeh, the promotion exercise will involve over 13,000 eligible officers across 150 cadres and grade levels.

In a statement, he said the exercise aligns with President Bola Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda and reflects the administration's commitment to improving career progression within the FCT civil service.
"As part of the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President, the Honourable Minister of the FCT, Barrister Nyesom Wike, has approved the 2025 promotion exercise for over 13,000 FCT civil servants," the statement read.

"The exercise commenced on July 1, 2026, and is expected to run for a period of 10 days."
Ezeh disclosed that the minister also directed the commission to conduct the 2026 promotion exercise before the end of the year to ensure that all eligible officers are given timely opportunities for career advancement.

He added that the commission had been instructed to collaborate with relevant agencies within the FCTA to ensure a smooth and transparent exercise while addressing challenges experienced during previous promotion exercises.

The commission chairman assured participating officers that adequate arrangements had been put in place to guarantee a hitch-free process. He urged candidates to remain patient throughout the exercise and wished them success in the Computer-Based Test (CBT), which forms part of the promotion process.
The FCT Civil Service Commission introduced the CBT promotion system in 2024, becoming the first civil service commission in Nigeria to adopt the technology-driven approach shortly after its inauguration in March of that year.
