Electricity Distribution Companies (DisCos) generated a total of ₦203.61 billion from electricity consumers in April 2026, according to the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).

The commission disclosed this in its Commercial Performance Factsheet for April, published on its official X account.

According to the report, the 11 electricity distribution companies billed customers ₦252.43 billion during the month and successfully collected ₦203.61 billion, representing a collection efficiency of 80.66 per cent.

NERC stated that the DisCos received electricity valued at ₦302.96 billion but were only able to bill customers ₦252.43 billion, resulting in a billing efficiency of 83.32 per cent. The commission noted that while collection efficiency improved by 1.07 percentage points compared to the previous month, billing efficiency declined slightly by 0.57 percentage point.

The report further revealed that the electricity industry's revenue recovery efficiency stood at 82.11 per cent in April, with an average actual collection of ₦102.13 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), compared to the approved average tariff of ₦124.39 per kWh.

Among the 11 distribution companies, Eko Electricity Distribution Company recorded the highest revenue recovery efficiency at 102.09 per cent. It was followed by Abuja Electricity Distribution Company with 89.77 per cent and Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company with 88.89 per cent.

According to NERC, the three distribution companies posted the strongest revenue recovery performance for the month, reflecting higher collection rates relative to the approved tariff benchmark.
