Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested a suspected armed robber who allegedly attempted to evade arrest by concealing a fake firearm inside a loaf of bread.
According to a statement released on Monday, the suspect was apprehended during a stop-and-search operation carried out by officers attached to the command. The officers, upon inspecting the loaf, discovered an improvised firearm creatively tucked inside.
Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, praised the officers for their vigilance and swift action, noting that the arrest demonstrates the command’s heightened security measures and dedication to crime prevention across the state.
“The officers acted professionally and were able to detect the disguised weapon despite the suspect’s effort to deceive law enforcement,” the statement noted.
The suspect is currently in police custody and will be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations.
The command urged residents to remain security-conscious and report suspicious activities to the nearest police formation, assuring the public of its continued commitment to maintaining peace and safety across Delta State.
