Delta Governor Condemns Molestation of NYSC Member, Assures Full Support

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has condemned in strong terms the molestation and stripping of Miss Jennifer Elohor, a Delta-born corps member serving in Awka, Anambra State, by operatives of a local vigilante group.

The Governor, represented by the State Commissioner for Youth Development, Comrade Agbateyiniro ThankGod, visited Awka where he met with the Anambra State Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Patrick Agha Mba, as well as the NYSC State Coordinator, to register Delta State’s concern over the inhuman treatment meted out to the corps member.

Governor Oborevwori described the incident as “inhuman and totally unacceptable,” stressing that under his MORE Agenda, the dignity and welfare of every Delta youth remain a top priority, whether they are at home or serving in other states across Nigeria.

He assured that Delta State will not tolerate any act that undermines the safety, dignity, and rights of its youths, especially those on national service.

Meanwhile, the Governor is scheduled to meet Miss Elohor today in Warri to personally hear from her, extend government’s support, and reassure her that she is not alone. The meeting will also enable him to get first-hand information on the unfortunate incident and to ensure the case receives the seriousness it deserves.

The Delta State Government reaffirmed its commitment to standing by its citizens and working with relevant authorities to guarantee justice for Miss Elohor.
