Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has been conferred with the prestigious chieftaincy title of Utukpa-Oritse of the Warri Kingdom, also known as Ugbọnẹ́, in a historic ceremony held at the palace of the Olu of Warri in Delta State.

The honour was bestowed by Ogiame Atuwatse III, the revered monarch of the Warri Kingdom, in recognition of the First Lady’s service, leadership, and contributions to national development.

The title Utukpa-Oritse is a highly respected honour within the Itsekiri traditional institution, symbolizing heritage, service, and royal recognition. The ceremony was marked by rich cultural displays, traditional rites, and the presence of prominent chiefs, political leaders, and dignitaries from across the country.

In addition to the chieftaincy conferment, Her Excellency was also decorated with the distinguished Royal Order of Iwere (ROI), further underscoring the significance of the occasion.

Following the ceremony, a grand reception was held at the palace grounds, celebrating what many described as a proud and memorable moment for the Warri Kingdom.

The conferment highlights the enduring bond between Nigeria’s traditional institutions and national leadership, while reinforcing the cultural pride and unity of the Warri people.
